Haymes was established in Ballarat in 1935 and has developed from a relatively unknown paint manufacturer in Victoria to a bustling business supplying premium quality products through specialist paint stores across the nation.
Haymes continues its leadership by offering over 1,150 of its own colours in total.
New cutting edge products such as the PC Painter colour visualisation system, Natures Palette Low VOC paint, Simply Woodcare water based exterior Dexpress and UVEX, Tricoat 3 in 1 Primer, Sealer and Undercoat, has seen Haymes set new standards in delivering new and unique products. Moving away from the traditional square and rectangular chips, Haymes’ new colour wall has a selection of over 400 colours in a new circular chip format. The new circular chips don’t just display colour, they are interlocking so you can create a colour scheme by slotting separate colour chips together. You can then swap and change colours until you find your perfect combination.

Nature's Palette is an environmentally aware paint that has been manufactured under waste-wise production processes with careful consideration for user health and comfort. To ensure that users suffer minimal discomfort, Nature’s Palette is greater than 99% VOC free and is manufactured using low odour raw materials and no added solvent.
Natures Palette is available in Ceiling White, Interior Low Sheen and Sealer Undercoat.
In April 2008, Good Environmental Choice Australia verified all 3 Nature's Palette Products to be compliant with the requirements of GECA 23-2005- Architectural and Protective Coatings standard.
 
What are VOC's?
Commonly known as Volatile Organic Compounds, all paints contain petroleum based solvents which evaporate into the air from the paint film whilst the paint is drying.
 
Why include ingredients with VOC's?
Even in water based paints these type of ingredients are included to achieve good coverage, improved brushability, aid working time, film hardness and help with ease of application.
 
What are Haymes doing about it?
Haymes are actively developing products which are water based and low in VOC's. New development takes into consideration the effect on our environment, therefore our future. We have made a significant commitment and investment in the future by ensuring that our products meet the APAS standards for VOC levels. Toxic substances such as lead, mercury or arsenic have not been used in our products since the early 1970's.
 
What can you do about it?
Modern technology is now equivalent or better in water based products than traditional oil or solvent based products. Choose water based alternatives to a traditional solvent based paint where possible. Always choose a high quality paint product - you get what you pay for - and always choose from a manufacturer who complies with APAS standards for VOC's. Description
Peel Away 8 is a unique paint removal system, it is a thick paste that is applied to the surface, it is then covered with a laminated paper which allows the product to emulsify up to 12 layers of paint in one application. The laminated paper prevents evaporation and restricts dangerous chemicals from entering the atmosphere while keeping the product active long after application. It is designed for the removal of multiple layers of old, deteriorating and unwanted paint films and is one of the only safe method for the removal of lead based paints.
